The Shifted Core
This project reinterprets traditional Moroccan spatial principles through a contemporary interior approach, centered around the idea of a shifted core. By relocating the central riad, the design creates new spatial relationships that enhance flow, light, and connectivity between spaces. Warm materials, intricate patterns, and layered textures draw from Moroccan heritage, while the open, adaptive layout supports modern living. The result is a space that balances tradition and innovation, creating a rich and immersive spatial experience.
Concept
The design evolves from a simple rectilinear mass into a more articulated form through the strategic subtraction of volume. By carving out a courtyard, a central void is introduced, allowing light, ventilation, and spatial connectivity to shape the interior. This intervention transforms the riad into a defining spatial anchor, organizing the surrounding spaces and creating a cohesive, inward-focused layout.
Target Users
Color Justification
The color palette is inspired by traditional Moroccan materials and natural surroundings, combining warm terracotta, soft neutrals, and muted greens. Earthy tones reflect riad plaster and artisanal pottery, while greens draw from palm landscapes, creating a calm and grounded atmosphere. Applied through a 60–30–10 distribution, the palette balances dominant neutral bases with subtle accents, enhancing both spatial warmth and visual harmony.

Grandfather Bedroom
The grandfather’s bedroom is designed as a calm and comfortable retreat, using soft neutral tones and warm wood finishes to create a sense of familiarity and ease. Subtle textures and gentle lighting add warmth without overwhelming the space, while the simple layout prioritizes accessibility and functionality. The result is a quiet, restful environment that supports comfort, dignity, and daily living.
